Legadonia Entente Alliance (レガドニア協商連合) is a country located in the north of the Empire. Legadonia claims the territory of Norden, which is under the Empire's control. Mountains make up large parts of the country's landscapes.

Government

The highest government body of the Entente Alliance is the Council of Ten. While not directly explained, the council is probably more similar to a cabinet than a parliament, due to the full titles of the councilors[Notes 1].

Before the story began, the Entente Alliance was facing the sluggish economy, the widening wealth inequality, and the unemployment rate that refused to fall. Those finally led to the change in administration, and a nationalistic government came into power. In June, 1923, the Entente Alliance marched into Norden, which they consider rightfully theirs, but was soundly defeated by the Empire, who declared war in response.

By November 4, 1924, the government that was responsible for the war had been replaced, but the new government could barely resist the Empire's advance. Following the loss of Osfjord on December 1, the Council of Ten tried to create a government-in-exile abroad by sending Councilor Abensoll to Albion, but was cut short when Tanya's 203rd Battalion intercepted the submarine he got on.

Military Strength

Army

The Legadonia Army was far weaker than the Imperial one. Just fighting a regional army group of the Empire took most of their national power to maintain the front lines.

Navy

They only have 2 capital ships. Based on the words from Anson, an Entente Alliance mage colonel, their navy was only a slightly thicker-skinned version of a coast guard. Even a handful of their submarines went on their periodic deep-sea exercise before the outbreak of war, and were thought of as warships by neutral countries, disarmed embarrassingly at last. In spite of the lack of naval strength, they still used some patrol boats to build a patrol line in their coasts.

Air Force

Legadonia is considered a developing country in the mage department, so their amount of mage are few, but to compensate for the short supply, the ones they do have are elites. Their mages were all in composite units, so a lot depended on the quality and personality of the commander. They tended to use mages more for aerial operations as reinforcing their air force, which was somewhat lacking in muscle.

Trivia

  • Legadonia's location corresponds to real-life Sweden and Norway.
  • On the maps that show up in the background of the anime, the country's name shows up as "Legadonia entente union" in a highly stylized font.
  • The name of Legadonia contains the word * League * in Italian.

Notes

  1. The Councilors of Foreign Affairs, Internal Affairs, and the Army were mentioned in Norden I, and the Councilor of Culture was mentioned in The Devil in the Coast of Norden.
